A 1000-shilling note from the Bank of Uganda; this example is dated 2003. The front shows a farmer working the soil with a hoe beside banana plants, with a stand of maize, the national coat of arms and the bank's own arms. The back shows a large grain silo complex with lorries parked in front. The design reflects the importance of farming, which employs most of Uganda's population.
