Issued by the Central Bank of Syria in 2021 (AH 1442), this 50-pound note shows ancient clay tablets inscribed in cuneiform on the front, a nod to early Syrian writing such as the Ugaritic alphabet. The back shows the Central Bank of Syria headquarters building with a statue in front, set against a background of ancient script motifs. This 2021 printing adds a tactile mark on the back for blind and partially sighted users, and carries new signatures.
