A 250-gulden note from the Centrale Bank van Suriname, dated 9 January 1988. The front shows a portrait of the writer and activist Anton de Kom, a row of historic buildings from Paramaribo and a group of people raising a flag. The back shows a toucan among tropical flowers beside a rising sun, and a crowd gathered around a speaker. It shares its design with the other values of the same series, which honoured de Kom.
