A one-pound note issued by the Bank of Sudan, dated 1 January 1987. The front shows a sprig of cotton, an emblem containing a map of Sudan within a wreath, and decorative geometric patterns. The back shows the headquarters of the Bank of Sudan in Khartoum. Cotton was long Sudan's principal export crop, which explains its prominence in the design.
