A 50-rupee note from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, from a series introduced in 1995; this example is dated 3 July 2006. The front shows a Kandyan dancer in an ornate beaded headdress, with a carved guardian figure and a lotus motif. The back shows an elaborately carved ornament with a dragon-like head against a stupa, with butterflies at the edge. Text appears in Sinhala, Tamil and English, the country's three official languages.
