A 20-rand note issued by the South African Reserve Bank in 1993 as part of the 'Big Five' animal series. The front shows the head of an African elephant with a small herd walking through the bush beside it. The back shows open-cast mining, with heavy excavating machinery and a large wheel structure overlaid by diamond-shaped motifs. Each note in the series paired one of the Big Five animals with a sector of the economy.
