Back

The front shows Janez Vajkard Valvasor (1641–1693), the Carniolan polymath and author of 'The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola', with a quill and compasses. The back shows an allegorical engraving of cherubs from his work with the motto 'Dulcis ex labore fructus'. This note comes from the first regular tolar series issued by the Bank of Slovenia in 1992, after independence, and the tolar remained in use until the euro replaced it in 2007.
