Issued by the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú and dated 26 June 1987, the front shows former president Nicolás de Piérola beside the national arms, and the back shows oil workers on a drilling rig. The inti replaced the sol in 1985 but was destroyed by the hyperinflation of the late 1980s, and was itself replaced by the nuevo sol in 1991.
