A 5000 won note from the Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, dated Juche 95 (2006). The front shows a portrait of Kim Il Sung, founder of the state and its leader from 1948 until 1994, beside the national emblem and sprays of flowers. The back shows his birthplace at Mangyongdae near Pyongyang, a group of thatched houses set among trees, which is preserved as a national shrine.
