A 1 kyat note from the Central Bank of Myanmar, issued in 1990, the year after the country's English name changed from Burma. The front shows General Aung San in military uniform and cap, beside a stylised flower motif and the value in Burmese script. The back shows an ornate carved panel with mythical creatures and a large geometric flower. Aung San led Burma's independence movement and was assassinated in 1947.
