A 1000 livres note from the Banque du Liban's 2011 series, with a modern design based on panels and geometric shapes. The front shows the cedar tree, the national emblem, beside a large numeral 1000 over a background of letters. The back has a grid of characters from early alphabets, a reminder that the Phoenician alphabet developed on the coast of present-day Lebanon, together with a large numeral and a small cedar.
