The front shows a portrait of the Kyrgyz composer Abdylas Maldybaev alongside traditional ornamental motifs, and the back depicts the komuz and other traditional Kyrgyz stringed instruments in front of the National Philharmonic building in Bishkek. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic issued it in the 1999 series, and the lowest denominations were later replaced by coins.
