A 1930 Bank of Japan 10 yen (Pick 40) with the small blue certificate stamp, or shōshi, added in March 1946. After the war Japan froze bank deposits and called in all notes larger than 5 yen; new notes could not be printed fast enough, so old ones were revalidated with these stickers. A stamped note is catalogued separately as Pick 79a.
