A Bank of Japan 1 yen note convertible into silver, a design first issued in 1916. The front shows Takenouchi no Sukune, a legendary statesman of early Japan, and the back carries the bank's promise in English to pay the bearer one yen in silver. Both copies here have block numbers in the 300s, which places them in the later printing catalogued as Pick 30c.
