Issued by the Banca d'Italia under a 1985 decree, this note shows the composer Vincenzo Bellini in front of the tiered interior of an opera house. The back shows a robed female figure among bare trees beside a classical column, a scene associated with his opera Norma. This design circulated until the lira was replaced by the euro in 2002.
