Bank of Israel 5 lirot of the 1968 series, showing a portrait of Albert Einstein beside an atomic motif on the front and the Nahal Soreq nuclear research reactor on the back. Einstein was a strong supporter of the Hebrew University and was offered the presidency of Israel in 1952. This series circulated until the lira was replaced by the sheqel in 1980.
