A 500 rupiah note issued by Bank Indonesia in 1992. One side shows an orangutan sitting among rainforest branches, labelled 'Orang Utan', with the Garuda Pancasila emblem. The other side shows a traditional raised wooden house of East Kalimantan, labelled 'Rumah Adat Kalimantan Timur', among trees. The orangutan, found only in Borneo and Sumatra, featured on this note as a symbol of Indonesia's wildlife.
