2 rupees
India · 1976
Issued by the Reserve Bank of India, with the value written in many of India's languages on the front. The front also shows the Lion Capital of Ashoka, India's national emblem, and the bank's seal. The back shows Aryabhata, India's first satellite, launched in 1975, orbiting above the Earth. The satellite design celebrated the country's space programme, and 2 rupee notes were later replaced by coins.
