Issued by the Banco Central de Honduras, this example dated 20 June 2019. The front shows Marco Aurelio Soto, named on the note as reformer of the republic in 1876, alongside the national coat of arms. The back shows Isla del Tigre and the port town of Amapala, where Soto inaugurated his government. The lempira, named after a sixteenth-century indigenous leader who resisted the Spanish, has been the currency of Honduras since 1931.
