Issued by the Bank of Greece in Athens and dated 1 January 1935, part of the second issue of this design. The front shows a bust of the ancient poet Hesiod and a view of a fortified tower beside the sea. The back shows a classical relief of seated figures, in the style of the Parthenon frieze, set in a Greek key border. Notes of this period were in use when Greece entered the Second World War.
