A later Bank of Ghana 1,000 cedis, this example dated 2002, keeping the same design as the earlier issue. The front shows cut diamonds beside the national coat of arms with its motto Freedom and Justice. The back shows workers harvesting cocoa, cutting pods from the trees and splitting them open. In 2007 Ghana introduced a new cedi worth 10,000 old cedis, and notes like this were withdrawn.
