Issued by the Bank of Ghana, this 1,000 cedis note belongs to the series first dated 22 February 1991. The front shows a group of cut diamonds, one of the country's mineral resources, beside the national coat of arms. The back shows two workers harvesting cocoa, one cutting pods from the tree with a blade while the other opens them. Rising inflation in the 1990s pushed the cedi to ever higher denominations until it was redenominated in 2007.
