The front contrasts a grandmother at her spinning wheel with a modern lady on a bicycle, and the reverse, designed by Erwin Nöbbe, shows cattle straying past a border sign with a rhyme alluding to the new Danish–German frontier drawn after the 1920 Schleswig plebiscites.
