Municipality of Drenke · Germany · 1921
A Notgeld (emergency money) note issued by the municipality of Drenke in Westphalia, dated 5 November 1921 and valid until 1 March 1922. The front shows the castellated Eliesenhöhe near Drenke, and the reverse shows a timber-framed farmstead with a straw effigy, illustrating a rhyme about a village custom of mocking a jilted groom whose former bride is marrying his neighbour.
