Notgeld (emergency money) issued by the town council of Stavenhagen in Mecklenburg. One side shows the town hall, birthplace of the Low German writer Fritz Reuter, and carries the council's signatures and a validity clause. The other side has a colourful portrait of Reuter with a Low German quotation, ears of corn and poppies. It is part of the collectors' Notgeld series printed by the Bärensprungsche Hofbuchdruckerei in Schwerin during the early 1920s.
