50 pfennig, town view
City of Lobeda · Germany · 1921
A 1921 Notgeld (emergency money) serial note from the town of Lobeda near Jena. One side shows a view of the town flanked by a halberd-bearing night watchman and a townsman, with the motto 'Einst alles wie heut'. The other side shows the ruined Lobdeburg castle, encircled by verse about the lords of Lobdeburg, between a crowned Madonna with lion arms and an armoured knight. Like most German Notgeld it was issued for collectors as much as for circulation, and it has no Pick number.
