A 1921 Notgeld note issued by the town of Altenburg in Thuringia. The front shows the town gate and tower with the civic emblems of an open hand and a rose, and the reverse shows a bird's-eye view of Schloss Altenburg, scene of the 1455 Saxon Prinzenraub, when the young princes Ernst and Albrecht were abducted. It is part of a colourful series designed by 'Pix' and printed by J. A. Schwarz of Lindenberg im Allgäu; such notes are not listed in the Pick catalogue.
