A First World War emergency note issued by the Nice and Alpes-Maritimes Chamber of Commerce to relieve a shortage of small change. The front, authorised by ministerial decision of April 1917, shows red shields with an anchor and a caduceus within a dense floral border, and the back has a grapevine design with 1917 and 1919 banners and text stating the notes were redeemable at Banque de France offices in the département until the end of 1919.
