A French emergency (necessity) note for one franc, issued by the Nantes Chamber of Commerce to make up for the shortage of small change during and after the First World War. The front shows the arms of Nantes with the motto 'Oculi omnium in te sperant Domine', flanked by eagles and palm fronds. The back explains that the bons were backed by an equal deposit at the Treasury, could be exchanged for Banque de France notes, and had to be redeemed before 31 December 1924.
