A local emergency (nécessité) note issued by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce under its resolution of 14 October 1921. The front shows a caduceus emblem, the Chamber's red seal and an interlaced monogram, and the back carries a large '1 FRANC' with a redemption deadline of 31 December 1923. Such notes were exchangeable for Banque de France notes and eased the shortage of small change after the First World War.
