A French 'Monnaie Matières' ration voucher, not a true banknote, entitling the holder to one kilogram of ordinary steel. It was issued by the iron and steel section of the Office Central de Répartition des Produits Industriels, which controlled scarce industrial materials during and after the Second World War. The front shows a winged Mercury head and a factory scene, and the voucher is perforated with a validity date in 1946. The reverse carries an endorsement stamp of Établissements Fould-Springer of Maisons-Alfort.
