Back

Issued by the Banque de France, from a series first printed in 1962, showing the playwright Jean Racine. The front shows Racine in a long curled wig beside a town scene with a tall church tower, with a decorative cartouche of quills and laurel. The back shows a second portrait with a view of a walled abbey and its buildings in the countryside, and a coat of arms with a swan. The franc was replaced by the euro in 2002.
