A uniface Revolutionary assignat of five livres, created by decree of 10 Brumaire Year II (31 October 1793). It bears revolutionary slogans in the border, including a warning of death for counterfeiters and a reward for informers, along with an embossed seal and the signature of d'Osseville. Assignats were first backed by confiscated Church lands, but they were issued in vast quantities and depreciated rapidly before being withdrawn in 1796.
