1 nouveau likuta
Democratic Republic of the Congo · DR Congo · 1993
Issued by the Banque du Zaïre after the 1993 currency reform that replaced the old zaïre with the nouveau zaïre, the note shows President Mobutu Sese Seko in military cap with a leopard on the front and a monument flanked by sculpted figures on the back. Hyperinflation quickly made this tiny fractional denomination almost worthless, so uncirculated examples are common.
