A 500 yuan note dated 1943 from the Central Reserve Bank of China, issued by the Japanese-backed Wang Jingwei government in Nanjing; this is a recognised variety of the 1943 issue. The front shows a portrait of Sun Yat-sen between ornate value panels on a yellow underprint. The back shows the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing with its stepped approach. Rising denominations like this reflect wartime inflation in occupied China.
