Part of the 1992 animal series issued by the National Bank of Belarus soon after the country left the Soviet Union. The front shows an elk (moose) striding across the note beside a square of folk ornament. The back carries the Pahonia, a mounted knight with raised sword and a shield bearing a double cross, then the national emblem. These first Belarusian notes were popularly known as 'bunnies' after the hare on the 1 rouble.
