Part of the 1992 series issued by the National Bank of Belarus soon after independence from the Soviet Union, with each value showing a native animal. The front of this note shows a European bison beside a square of folk ornament. The back carries the Pahonia, a mounted knight with raised sword and shield bearing a double cross, which was then the national emblem. These early notes were popularly nicknamed 'bunnies' after the hare on the 1 rouble.
