Issued by the Austro-Hungarian Bank and dated 2 January 1902, this 1000 kronen shows a young woman wearing a floral wreath beside the double-headed imperial eagle, with the value in the languages of the Empire. Both sides carry the same German-text design, one with the series and the other with the number. After the Empire collapsed, the new Republic of German-Austria overprinted it 'Deutschösterreich' in red in 1919, here running up the side of the note.
